Burnes To Bounce Back Unexpectedly Against Dodgers

0

Corbin Burnes is having a miserable month of August. I am not going to let that deter me from starting one of the best pitchers in baseball tonight. It’s not often you get a starting pitcher like Corbin Burnes for $8,700. At the same time, there aren’t many pitchers worth $8,700 who have an 8.71 ERA over his last 20.2 innings. I find it hard to believe that he continues to be this bad. You can argue that the Dodgers aren’t the best matchup for a reeling starter, and you wouldn’t be incorrect. Every so often, you just have to believe that a star pitcher has the ability to get right, even against a great opponent. For this price, I’ll take Burnes every time. Let’s see who else we can fit into this lineup for tonight’s 8-game slate starting at 7:10pm EST.

Brayan Bello SP: $7,700 – Bello has 5 quality starts in his last 8 outings. Good, not great. In his 2 most recent starts against the Blue Jays, he’s had both -10.2- and 18.3-point performances. Really, Jekyll and Hyde when it comes to facing the Blue Jays. The Jays have some pop, particularly with Vlad Jr in the lineup. If Bello can work around Vlad, then I fully expect him to give us a double-digit performance with an outside chance at 20+.

Rhys Hoskins, 1B: $3,700 –Hoskins’ .219 average and .728 OPS leave more to be desired from the Brewers 1B, but he’s as streaky as they come. Earlier this month, Hoskins rattled off a string of 4 straight double-digit scoring games. He has 2 straight as of Tuesday evening (won’t count Tuesday here), so we want to ride this recent hot streak against lefty Kyle Harrison.

Connor Norby 2B: $3,900 – Talk about riding the hot hand. Norby was called up by the Marlins about a week ago and has 4 double-digit games in his first 7 starts, including 2 homers. He takes on Kyle Freeland at Coors, and considering this is a vibes pick, let’s just hope to see some points here from Norby. A long ball would be icing on the cake, but a couple hits and runs would suffice.

Willy Adames, SS: $4,700 – Did we mess around and make a small Brewers stack? Although it was very small, I think we did. If you care to fade, make sure you start Kyle Harrison at SP. However, if you’re riding, we’re taking Willy Adames as SS tonight. He’s a power threat with multiple steals and has been productive at the plate in August. Harrison is susceptible to giving up runs in the middle innings, and we’re here to take advantage with Adames and Hoskins.

Luis Robert Jr OF: $4,100 – This is an odd pick. Robert was the subject of trade deadline talks but ended up staying with the White Sox. He then struggled for a bit, but in his last 11 games is hitting .356 with an .894 OPS and 4 double-digit performances including 38, 24, and 18. Jack Leiter is expected to start for the Rangers, and he has simply not been good this year. I will confidently start Robert here, but he will be the only White Sox player worthwhile.

Wyatt Langford, OF: $3,900 – Let’s flip to the other side of the Rangers/White Sox game with the selection of Wyatt Langford. He’s had his fair share of rookie struggles but is starting to heat up again as August comes to a close. Before Tuesday’s game, Langford had multi-hit games in 3 of his last 9 starts to go along with 6 RBI. There’s a need for more power, and we’re going to hope that comes tonight.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

With the selections above inserted into a lineup, you’d have $4,400 to spend on the remaining holes. You can also use some money to upgrade if you wish. Tried to give plenty of wiggle room in case there are any off days for our picks,

There is no inclement weather projected, only some 10+ mph winds blowing in from right field in the Red Sox/Blue Jays game.

Doing Lines In Vegas

As of Tuesday evening, the Brewers are the biggest favorites of the slate at -170 against the Giants. To nobody’s surprise, the Rockies/Marlins at Coors Field is the highest over/under at 10.5. As an FYI, the line for the Corbin Burnes led Orioles is -105 with an over/under of 8.5
