Rachel Zegler Favors Dramatic Opacity in Sheer Dior Dress at Variety’s New York Party

Rachel Zegler joined a bevy of high-profile guests for Variety’s New York Party Presented by Film Alula on Sunday. The “West Side Story” actress serves as Variety’s cover star for the New York issue.

For the occasion, Zegler opted for her take on sheer dressing in a long-sleeve maxidress courtesy of Dior. The dress featured sheer black fabric adorned with silver sequin embellishments that cascaded down the bodice and skirt of the dress.

Along with styling the sheer trend in her Dior look, Zegler also opted for the peekaboo bra trend, wearing a variation on the style with coordinated short-shorts beneath the sheer frock. Kristen Stewart, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Sydney Sweeney are among the stars who’ve also styled the peekaboo bra trend in 2024.

As for her accessories, Zegler wore pieces of jewelry courtesy of De Beers. Her hair was styled by David von Cannon and featured soft waves with a side part. Zegler’s makeup featured a glowing look with a bold brow and soft pink lip by Kale Teter. Zegler’s look was curated by stylist Sarah Slutsky Tooley, who’s also worked with Ella Hunt and Poorna Jagannathan, among others.

The actress was named an ambassador to Dior alongside Dilraba Dilmurat last year. Both women serve as ambassadors to the house’s fashion and beauty.

Upon her ambassadorship appointment, Zegler joined impressive company. Dior’s roster of “One Dior” ambassadors includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Jisoo from Blackpink, Robert Pattinson, Cha Eun-woo, Emma Raducanu and Jenna Ortega.

Zegler has previously attended some of Dior’s high-profile events, including the Rouge Dior Dinner last February. The actress also wore an ecru silk tulle dress with ribbon stripes and sheer details from Dior’s fall 2023 collection for 2023 Time 100 Next Gala in New York City in October 2023.
