What’s poppin, Razzpimples?!

Remember to bookmark that Razzball Bullpen Chart, y’all! I update it obsessively.

Also, if you’re a sub (you should be a sub…it’s great value), you get access to RP Projections and the super badass Relievonator Game Log tool, in addition to all the other awesome tools we have to offer. Hittertron and Streamonator, etc.

Let’s do it to it.

Note: All stats and Player Rater values are accurate through Sunday’s games.

2024 SVHD Leaders

Weekly Saves Leaders

Weekly Blown Saves Leaders :'(

Arizona Diamondbacks:

  • Welp, Justin Martinez didn’t handle the past week as closer very well. Um, play it by ear?? Paul Sewald looked a helluva lot better. I’d probably just yolo it and add him back and victory lap all through your playoffs.

Atlanta Braves:

  • I don’t think you need my “expert” advice to parse whom to roster outta this pen. But I’ll still shout out Dylan Lee for 1 W, 1 HLD, and 7 K.

Baltimore Orioles:

  • Seranthony Dominguez gotta be on every single roster in fantasy baseball now. Could pull a Justin Martinez and poo poo the bed, but you just gotta do it.

Boston Red Sox:

  • Just like I thought, it was Lucas Sims bagging 3 HLD while Chris Martin only had 1 HLD. Yay.

Chicago Cubs:

  • Ruh roh, Hector Neris stunk it up with a big fat BS this week, while Jorge Lopez had the only Cubs SV. Porter Hodge had 2 HLD. Emergency Edit: Neris was released this morning. Best guess is that Lopez and Drew Smyly get opps.

Chicago White Sox:

  • Ditto from last week: Move on; nothing worthwhile to see here.

Cincinnati Reds:

  • Damn near nothing to see here anymore either. Gotta trust the process with Alexis Diaz, I suppose, but I’m not sure even Fernando Cruz is worth a shiz anymore, pardner.

Cleveland Guardians:

  • I guess I’ll just ditto last week again, cuz ain’t a thing changed: The #1 RP on the Player Raters needs no introduction. Hunter Gaddis remains my next favorite, while Cade Smith is a very close second at this stage.

Colorado Rockies:

  • Victor Vodnik was bad, because of course he was after headlining the previous week. Tyler Kinley was quite good. Do we see a flip flop here?

Detroit Tigers:

  • Really don’t care about any of these guys at this point.

Houston Astros:

  • Ryan Pressly landed on the IL. Just good ol’ Josh Hader and Bryan Abreu now. They’ll rake ROS. Abreu now leads everyone with 31 HLD, and you’ve gotten 87 K for good measure. He’ll likely hit the century mark. Hader probably will too.

Kansas City Royals:

  • Lucas Erceg is officially must-own everywhere. No one else is.

Los Angeles Angels:

  • Ben Joyce had 1 SV and 1 K. Good whiffs. Hopefully continues trending this way.

Los Angeles Dodgers:

  • Welllllllllllll I ain’t never. That’s something my grandma used to say when she was plumb flummoxed. I’m plumb flummoxed at this resurgence of Michael Kopech. That pardner is locked in like Hansel in the walk-off vs. Derek Zoolander. He’s so hot right now, like a hot little potato. Add him everywhere.

Miami Marlins:

  • Calvin Faucher is your guy if you’re after saves from Miami.

Milwaukee Brewers:

  • Devin Williams just doin his thang. Nick Mears had 2 HLD and 6 K with bonkers metrics.

Minnesota Twins:

  • Nice to see Jhoan Duran looking like Jhoan Duran. Griffin Jax has always looked like Griffin Jax in 2024. Keep tabs on Cole Sands in your SVHD formats.

New York Mets:

  • Reed Garrett had 3 BS+L. Oof. Maybe not quite so healthy after all, or just rustier’n my father-in-law’s chainsaw he ain’t touched in years. Jose Butto busted up your ratios but the metrics still looked pretty ding dang good, as far as strikes and whiffs go.

New York Yankees:

  • Clay Holmes hit the double-digit blown saves milestone, but he really still had a bitchin’ week: -1.84 FIP, -0.06 SIERA, 62.5 K%, 0 BB%, 19.4 SwStr%, 36.1 CSW%. Tommy Kahnle had 3 HLD, while Luke Weaver had 2 HLD. Mark Leiter Jr. is worthless again. Drop.

Oakland A’s:

  • Mason Miller did his thang. Can’t recommend anyone else at this juncture.

Philadelphia Phillies:

  • Matt Strahm and Jeff Hoffman each had 2 HLD. Hoffman looked better. Carlos Estevez had 1 W and also 1 BS. August and September come around and that guy forgets how to do his job, I guess.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

  • David Bednar rebounded with a vintage Bednar type week. I mean that dude beasted it. Kyle Nicolas merits SVHD consideration I s’pose, but that just depends on what your wire looks like and what format you’re in and all that.

San Diego Padres:

  • You know the three names to roster here, and the respective formats in which they matter. Right? All three had good weeks, doing what they do best.

Seattle Mariners:

  • Quiet week on the Mariners bullpen front. Only two names really worth your attention anyway. Don’t think I need to spell out which ones.

San Francisco Giants:

  • Also a quiet week on the Giants pen front. Heard tell that Camilo Doval could come back and resume his closing duties. We’ll see. For now, the pecking order for my money is Ryan Walker then Tyler Rogers.

St. Louis Cardinals:

  • Andrew Kittredge pooped his britches and failed to record a single out this week. Ryan Helsley had 1 SV, and JoJo Romero had 1 HLD. Limited work but good results.

Tampa Bay Rays:

  • Pete Fairbanks landed on the IL with a lat strain. This could feasibly end his 2024 fantasy relevancy. Wasn’t the type of year I figured he’d have, poor fella. Impossible to predict the SV-only name to target, but in SVHD formats you want any one of Colin Poche, Edwin Uceta, or Manuel Rodriguez. I’m really likin what Uceta’s cookin so far in 2024: 28.2 IP, 0.94 ERA, 0.59 WHIP, 35:4 K:BB. Like, dayummmmmmmmmmmmm. Yeah, that’s the guy to add, I think.

Texas Rangers:

  • Y’all know which two walkers to Texas Ranger.

Toronto Blue Jays:

  • Chad Green ain’t sexy but he’s gotta be rostered everywhere.

Washington Nationals:

  • Kyle Finnegan is one of only three fellers with 30+ SV in 2024. That makes him a damn gem, but his poor second half has brought his ratios back down to where they probably shoulda been all along. He’s mostly pretty mid, but the bang-for-your-fantasy-buck value is practically second to none.
