Remember to bookmark that Razzball Bullpen Chart, y’all! I update it obsessively.

Also, if you’re a sub (you should be a sub…it’s great value), you get access to RP Projections and the super badass Relievonator Game Log tool, in addition to all the other awesome tools we have to offer. Hittertron and Streamonator, etc.

Let’s do it to it.

2024 SVHD Leaders

Weekly Saves Leaders

Weekly Holds Leaders

Weekly Blown Saves Leaders :'(

Arizona Diamondbacks:

  • Kevin Ginkel was the start of the show this week: 2 HLD, 0 ER, 1 K. Strong CSW%. One boring feller, but probably the holds guy you want to own. Paul Sewald no decisions and no strikeouts lol. Dang. Justin Martinez 1 HLD, 2 K. Did allow 5 H in just 3 IP. I still think he’s sexier than Ginkel IRL, but we’re not to that point in fantasy yet.

Atlanta Braves:

  • Raisel Iglesias 2 SV, 1 L. Overall, very strong 42.1 CSW%. Joe Jimenez 1 HLD, 1 L. Not a huge fan but he’s the guy til AJM is back. Keep an eye on Dylan Lee: 3.1 IP, 0 ER, 6:1 K:BB, 26.1 SwStr%, and 39.1 CSW% this week.

Baltimore Orioles:

  • Craig Kimbrel 2 SV, 0 ER, 7 K. Have I mentioned that he’s fine and you should never have worried? I think I just mighta. Yennier Cano 1 SV, 2 HLD, 0 ER, 5 K. He’s one I’m less confident about, which I said way back in preseason. Also said he’d likely be good to keep his #1 setup gig and be a great fantasy asset, and here we are.

Boston Red Sox:

  • Kenley Jansen 2 SV. Awfully boring week otherwise. About as interesting as your neighbor mowing the lawn at 8:30 AM. You kinda have to applaud the effort and gumption, but you don’t really like it at the same time. Zack Kelly led the team with 2 HLD. Struck out 7 in 4 IP while posting a 44 CSW%. Thing is, Chris Martin is due back today after battling some anxiety. Let’s see how all that plays out, pards.

Chicago Cubs:

  • Hector Neris 1 SV, 1 BS, 1 L. Ratios that only look good on a high school senior’s transcript. If I owned him in SV-only, I’d have to hold for now. All other formats, those shares were gone weeks ago. Have a handcuff in mind if you’re stuck with him. Probably Mark Leiter Jr., who also was trash this week (1 HLD, 1 BS, 1 L, even worse ratios lol). Drew Smyly had the best week: 1 HLD, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K in 4 IP. Might be the better handcuff after all?? Let’s give it another week or so.

Chicago White Sox:

  • John Brebbia 1 HLD, 1 BS, 1 L, 5:0 K:BB in 2.1 IP. Blahhhhhh. Tanner Banks 1 SV, 1 HLD, 4 K. Also blah. Michael Kopech 1 W, 2 BS, 6 K. He’s just next to worthless outside of Best Ball I guess.

Cincinnati Reds:

  • Alexis Diaz 2 SV, 0 K. Oof. Blue metrics all over my spreadsheet. I’d still consider him a buy low, though. Not a very exciting one anymore, but there’s plenty of time to get’er in gear. Fernando Cruz 1 HLD. Bad ratios but good whiffs. I want him and no one else for holds back there.

Cleveland Guardians:

  • Emmanuel Clase 2 SV, 3 K. Pedestrian metrics this week. Sam Hentges and Cade Smith each had 2 HLD. Combined for 4.4 perfect IP and 10 K. This pen is spoiled for choice, I reckon. Still got Hunter Gaddis at the top overall (1 HLD, 2 K) — Scott Barlow may have the most HLD, but Gaddis is only two behind him and basically half the ratios. Would you rather eat a plain but freshly-grilled cheeseburger, or one with all the fixins from McDonald’s? Gaddis is the freshly-grilled, delicious cheeseburger, if you didn’t catch my drift.

Colorado Rockies:

  • Tyler Kinley 1 SV, 3 K. Gave up some hits/runs but the metrics were solid. Reckon he’s the only son of a gun I’d tussle with out of Colorado. I don’t want what anyone else has to offer.

Detroit Tigers:

  • Jason Foley pitched two scoreless innings with 3 K. That’s all I can say about his week. Tyler Holton 1 HLD, 4 K, 0 ER in 5 IP. Meh. Like with Colorado, I’d tussle with Foley cuz he’s the primary guy. Don’t really find much reason to roster them others.

Houston Astros:

  • Only save came from Ryan Pressly of the vulture variety. Josh Hader was solid enough in 3 IP. Bryan Abreu 1 HLD, 1 K in 2 IP. No hits/walks/runs, but also most blue metrics on muh sheet.

Kansas City Royals:

  • One positive decision for the whole week from a KC RP: James McArthur win. Only pitched 1.1 IP but struck out a pair and had red metrics. John Schreiber 1 BS.

Los Angeles Angels:

  • Carlos Estevez 2 SV. Boy he’s on one, ladies n gents! His last month: 1 W, 6 SV, 0.96 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, 7:3 K:BB. My interest in this pen stops there.

Los Angeles Dodgers:

  • Evan Phillips 1 SV, 2 K. Metrics matched his uniform but whatever. Alex Vesia 1 SV. Phillips coulda gotten that save chance and didn’t, which tells me they’re monitoring his workload a little bit. Not in a such a way you should be concerned, mind you. Daniel Hudson 1 W, 1 HLD, 0 ER, 3 K. Blake Treinen is still the holds guy you want, but his week was awful, sadly.

Miami Marlins:

  • Tanner Scott 1 SV, 1 BS, 1 L, 4 K. WHIP looked good and metrics looked good. I like him quite a bit even though his team sucks as much as their uniforms look cool. And like with the Halos, my interest in this pen endeth here.

Milwaukee Brewers:

  • Trevor Megill 4 SV, leading everyone this week. Yeehaw! Never you mind his seven runners allowed and blue metrics…really, though; don’t pay them any mind. Joel Payamps 2 HLD but he ain’t someone I’d want to roster. That honor goes to Bryan Hudson, who had 1 HLD and 3 K in three perfect innings. Been downright deadly thus far.

Minnesota Twins:

  • Jhoan Duran trifecta! 1 W, 1 SV, 1 HLD, but unfortunately that came with a 1:2 K:BB. No hits/runs, though. Griffin Jax 1 SV, 1 HLD, 7 K in 4 IP. Great metrics. I gotta think Duran isn’t exactly 100% healthy, but he seems to be doing well enough anyway. And that Jax pard is just fantastic at throwing a baseball.

New York Mets:

  • Edwin Diaz 1 W, 1 SV, 3 K in two scoreless. Metrics were great and he even got his FB velo back up in triple digits. Might be we’ve got a helluva second half to behold. Dedniel Nunez 2 HLD, 7 K in 4.1 IP. Nary a hit/walk/run, to boot. Rocked a 25 SwStr% and 33.9 CSW%. Dazzling start to his MLB career trucks right along. Just wonder in the back of my head if hitters learn to adjust, and if that happens, can he adjust along with em. Time’ll tell, I s’pose.

New York Yankees:

  • Clay Holmes 1 BS, 1 L. We only saw him for 0.2 IP this week, and it was an ugly partial inning of work indeed. Luke Weaver/Caleb Ferguson/Ian Hamilton all had 1 HLD. Neither blew the saddle of my horse. Ferguson’s 41.7 K% and 34.5 CSW% looked good, but the ratios were merely passable. Weaver still my favorite for now.

Oakland A’s:

  • I know y’all only wanna hear about Mason Miller. Afraid there ain’t much to say this time ’round. He didn’t come close to dazzling, and all he got owners were a blown save and a loss. Summer heat getting to him? Canceling out all his prior heat, perhaps? Don’t rightly know. He’s in a weird spot value-wise where I could see an argument for either selling or buying. Depends on what you’ve got cookin in the kitchen. He’s good enough to snap right back into his dominant self, but you can’t ignore his recent spell of form. Over his last month, he’s allowed 15 baserunners, 9 R, and 6 ER in 13.1 IP. Then again, he’s also got 18 K and good metrics in that same span.

Philadelphia Phillies:

  • Jose Alvarado 1 SV, 1 K in two scoreless. Metrics were dark blue though. *Shrug emoji*. Jeff Hoffman 1 HLD, 3 K in 1.1 scoreless. Looked much better. Matt Strahm 1 HLD, 3 K. Metrics were dark, juicy red: 42.9 K%, 34.8 SwStr%, 47.8 CSW%. That feller is good. I can envision a world where he bumps Alvarado out of the ninth at some point.

Pittsburgh Pirates:

  • David Bednar 1 SV, 3 K, 2 ER in 2 IP. Very nice 27.8 SwStr%, however. Aroldis Chapman no decisions this week, striking out 3 in 1.2 IP. Colin Holderman 1 W, 1 HLD, 0 K in two scoreless. That’s still the hierarchy order, too.

San Diego Padres:

  • Robert Suarez 2 W, 4 K in 3.1 scoreless. Jeremiah Estrada 1 HLD, 4 K, 5 ER in 1.2 IP (good whiffs at least). It gets too messy for my taste the further down this depth chart you go.

Seattle Mariners:

  • Finally down to our headline hero: Ryne Stanek. Woo Pig, baby! Love when I get to write about my Pro Hogs. Stanek had 1 W, 3 SV, and 3 K this week in 3.1 scoreless. Metrics were pretty good, too. On the year, he’s up to 4 W, 17 SVHD, 4.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 28 K across 27 IP. Not elite, but damn better than I thought we’d see from this bandito ever again. Didn’t think we’d see him on the SVHD leaderboard at any point. Andres Munoz had a little scare with his back, but he seems to be past it, or at least comfortable enough to pitch through it. Had just 1 HLD and 1 L this week, but K’d 4 with great underlying numbers in 2 IP. His SVHD value is of course what it’s always been, but Stanek’s emergence certainly dampens the SV-only vibes. WOO PIG!

San Francisco Giants:

  • Camilo Doval 1 SV but otherwise a terrible week. Killed your ratios. Had 4 K, to his credit. Been a bumpy season to say the least. Gotta wonder if something of the injurious variety is lingering around in that arm of his. Going back a full moth, he’s allowed 15 H, 9 ER, and has had a grisly 12:9 K:BB over his last 10.2 IP. That ain’t good, pards. Ain’t good in no shape or form. Surely hope he can get back on track. Ryan Walker/Tyler Rogers 1 HLD. Give me Walker in fantasy. Much more sex appeal.

St. Louis Cardinals:

  • Ryan Helsley 3 SV, 1 L, 5 K. Also walked 6…yikes. Mostly got away with it, though. He’s that kinda good. Ryan Fernandez deserves a shoutout for 3 HLD, most of anyone this week. Don’t think it’s something to get used to just yet. I need to see more consistent usage like that before I’m ready to entertain the idea of possibly maybe having him on my radar. JoJo Romero is getting some annoying workload treatment, a la Evan Phillips. Andrew Kittredge 1 SV, 2 HLD. Still behind Romero on my priority list.

Tampa Bay Rays:

  • Pete Fairbanks 2 SV, 2 K. Encouraging that no other Rays RP had a save this week. Jason Adam 1 W, 1 BS, 5 K. Strikeouts have been down for him in ’24, but overall you can’t really complain with the season he’s given his owners. Colin Poche 2 HLD, 2 K in four scoreless. I’d roster him in deeper holds formats. Rays are one of them teams that just find a way to churn out SVHD value. Y’all know that already.

Texas Rangers:

  • Kirby Yates 2 SV, 3 K. Afraid all that time off from actual save chances would make him rusty, but the ol wily vet did it! David Robertson 2 HLD, 6 K, red metrics in two scoreless. Ditto!

Toronto Blue Jays:

  • Yimi Garcia might be seriously injured. We’ll have to do the ol wait and see. Got yanked from his last save opp with elbow soreness, and the results of that outing sure makes one think that he ain’t right. Chad Green is the likeliest next man up. Had 2 HLD in two scoreless, but also just 1 K. If that’s the case, and it’s holds your after, probably Nate Pearson next? 1 SV, 1 HLD, 4 K this week. He closed out the early Yimi departure. Trevor Richards has been good as well. Could factor in.

Washington Nationals:

  • Kyle Finnegan 1 W, 2 SV, 5 K. Just keeps on keepin on, y’all. Hunter Harvey 2 HLD, 7 K in 3.2 scoreless. Ditto. Reckon Finnegan gets traded one of these days, and you’ll probably hope to have Harvey to take his place in SV-only leagues. I’d be preparing to trade Finnegan if you can, even in SVHD, cuz I don’t know where he might end up, but it’s not terribly likely he keeps this kind of value if it happens. Unless it’s to Kansas City I guess. Just be thinkin on it.
