The Batman Is Coming Back to Theaters

Its sequel is still longer away than we’d like, but 2022’s The Batman left an impression that lingers. It was definitely a treat to see in theaters, and if you’ve been thinking about how nice it’d be to watch it again on the big screen, Warner Bros. is happy to meet those demands.

Come August 28, you can see Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight again at AMC Theatres’ Dolby screens across the country. Currently, specific locations and prices haven’t been revealed yet, and it appears that this’ll be a one-night only event. (Unless demand is so strong that WB decides to extend it out for a few more days.) Normally, these re-releases are done to celebrate some big milestone, but in The Batman’s case, it’s all about Colin Farrell’s Penguin. With his spinoff series meant to premiere on September 19, there’ll be a sneak preview for the HBO original attached to play after the film ends. So not only do you get to watch a pretty good movie with a fun Farrell performance, you get to see more of what the show has to offer with Farrell taking center stage.

Even if you don’t go and see The Batman in theaters again, it might be worth a rewatch if you haven’t seen it in a while. Chronologically, The Penguin takes place a full week after that film and shows Oswald’s climb up the crime ladder after Gotham’s been flooded and several corrupt politicians and a crime lord were killed by the Riddler. The show’s events will also tie directly into whatever’s going on in 2026’s The Batman Part II (and was originally part of that film’s story), so you can bet some of the show’s threads get more attention in the sequel.
