Donald Trump is expected to nominate Wall Street investor and campaign donor Howard Lutnick to run his commerce department, according to two people familiar with the discussions.
Lutnick, who is the co-chair of Trump’s transition team, had also been a contender to lead the incoming government’s Treasury department. He is the chief executive of investment firm Cantor Fitzgerald.
Lutnick’s nomination will need to be confirmed by the US Senate. A spokesperson for Lutnick declined to comment.
