Frasers Group has entered into a partnership with online beauty and wellness group THG, which will see Frasers’ credit and loyalty platforms offered to THG customers and THG’s luxury goods websites, including fashion site Coggles, transferred to Frasers ownership.

THG owns major beauty and wellness brands, such as Cult Beauty and Myprotein. It said the multi-year partnership will include Frasers launching its consumer credit and loyalty feature, Frasers Plus, across THG’s tech platform Ingenuity, which is used by third-party brands.

The deal will also see THG launch a range of Myprotein products in Sports Direct retail stores. Myprotein is said to be the world’s number on online sports nutrition brand and the fastest growing sports nutrition brand in the UK retail market. The deal with Frasers will boost its offline growth and introduce the brand to new customers.

Frasers CEO Michael Murray said the marked an “exciting step” in its plan to launch its credit and loyalty scheme, Frasers Plus, across third-party platforms.

Meanwhile the acquisition of the Coggles brand adds to Frasers’ burgeoning multi-brand fashion empire. Frasers, which owns the luxury super-boutique chain Flannels, has been hoovering up multi-brand fashion retailers in recent years.

Coggles had been one of the UK’s best-known independent fashion boutiques originally trading from York. Its founder, Victoria Bage, famously said she named the business, founded in 1974, after a woman her husband had allegedly had an affair with.

Victoria’s son Mark took over the running of the business and launched its online store in 2006. It fell into administration in 2013 with its physical stores closing and was acquired by the then The Hut Group (now THG). THG opened a new Coggles boutique in Alderley Edge in 2017.

In recent years Frasers has acquired names, such as Tessuti, Scotts and Cricket (all from JD Sports group), Zee & Co, Aphrodite and Matches to name a few. The latter was placed into administration just weeks after it was acquired with Frasers eventually reacquiring its name and IP from administrators Teneo. Teneo is trading the Matches website under license to clear its stock.

Meanwhile, THG said its sales continued to increase in recent months, having returned its revenues to growth at the end of last year.
