JD has today re-opened its store at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent following a refurbishment and significant upsize to 20,856 sq ft.

The new store is now stocking the latest seasonal product from brands including Adidas, Nike, New Balance, Under Armour, Asics, The North Face and On Running, amongst others.

Located in the Lower Rose Gallery at Bluewater, the store expansion also sees the store frontage increase by 27 meters “to enhance and improve an already immersive shopping experience”.

To mark the opening, JD is hosting a number of in-store and shopping centre experiences to engage consumers across the first two opening weekends.

In the shopping centre, JD and Under Armour will be hosting an interactive pop-up that invites visitors to take part in performance-based games around reaction, power, strength and precision for a chance to win Under Armour prizes.

In the new and improved store, DJ’s will be gracing the decks as guests explore the revamped offering, while Matt B Customs is offering exclusive sneaker customisation to anyone who purchases footwear and downloads the JD Status App.

James Air, Director, Head of Group Acquisitions at JD, said: “JD are delighted to have worked closely with our partners at LandSec to deliver a major investment at Bluewater, doubling the size and frontage of our store.

“Bluewater is one of the very best retail destinations in the UK, where JD have been a popular presence for over 25 years when the centre first opened, and we can’t wait to see how our cutting edge store environment delivers in 2024.”

James Waugh, Centre Director at Bluewater, added: “Here at Bluewater, we’re pleased to be unveiling the new JD store following its major expansion.

“JD is among our longest standing brands, having traded at the centre for over 25 years, so we’re sure our guests will be delighted to be able to shop an even wider array of products in the new and improved store.”

From the 6-7 July, the store will also have additional exclusive services, with Juicy Couture offering embroidery personalisation on product purchased, while sneaker care brand Crep Protect will be giving customers a chance to win sneakers via their ‘COP OR FLOP’ game.

JD has also partnered with Ballerz, a newly opened football experience on the roof of Bluewater, backed by former professional players Rio Ferdinand and Roberto Carlos, to give their fanbase the opportunity to win a day at the Ballerz dome, alongside a JD voucher. To enter the competition, which runs from 29 June, fans will be required to make a purchase from the newly reopened store ahead of the draw closing on 21 July 2024.

Earlier this week, it was reported that commercial property giant Landsec has taken control of Bluewater after striking a £120 million deal to increase its stake.
