Puma has dived into its 1970s archive and relaunched its ‘Palermo’ football trainers in seven new colourways as an exclusive with Footasylum.

It taps into the continuing retro football trainer trend that was reignited by Adidas Originals with its ‘Samba’ style in various new interpretations.

Footasylum has also “equipped teams nationwide” with Palermo trainers, including Northern Quarter FC men’s team and Worsley Wanderers women’s team from Manchester, with players from both teams featuring in the accompanying launch campaign.

A Footasylum spokesperson said: “It’s brilliant to partner with one of the biggest footwear brands in the world and give back to a community that deserves it.

“Grassroots football is a staple of British culture and plays a massive role in the world of sports and fashion.”

New Palermo options include traditional black and white leather with gum sole, white and red leather, as well as green and pink suede options. Priced at £75, they are now available from Footasylum stores and on the retailer’s website.

Customers can also “stayed tuned” across Footasylum socials, namely Instagram and TikTok, to be “part of the journey” as Puma and Footasylum host activations across Manchester, Liverpool and London.

For those in Manchester on 24 August, Footasylum will be showing up in secret locations offering followers the chance to find the Foootasylum x Puma van to win free Puma Palermo trainers and more throughout the day.
