RCL Update: The Week That Was, Week 15, 2024

0

We only had two trades this week in week 15 and that got me wondering how long teams had to improve their teams.  If I’m wondering, probably other people are too.  The answer is August 7th, we have about a month left to make any trades, buy or sell those saves, and aim for a league win.  As someone who plays in a lot of leagues, I will say, sending out a meaningful offer the first time is so appreciated.  A garbage offer where a team didn’t even consider my needs or what positions I have available is a surefire way to get ignored.  I’m not saying you have to start with your best offer, but I always like to start with a trade that I think has a shot at getting accepted.  Look at the standings, see what a team might need before sending an offer with a closer when they lead the league in saves.  Take the extra time and save everyone time in the long run.

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

Not much action in Perts this week.  Coolwhip and Knoche traded spots at the bottom of the barrel and everyone else held serve.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

That’s a wrap on the Razzslam regular season!  From here on out it’s playoff-bound for the top five teams in each league.  For everyone else, it’s so long, and we’ll see you next season.  We’ll see a big shake-up at the top of the standings next week when we introduce the playoff scoring with the mix of regular season points, but for now, your regular season top ten can be seen above.  Congrats, and good luck winning it all!  Brian Komprood made the most of this week, putting up a Razzslam best 821 points this week and moving into 18th place.  Hopefully they can keep that heater going into the playoffs.  Jason Shook also had a big week, scoring 714 points and moving up to 101st overall, a 51 spot jump, just in the nick of time!

WEEKLY LEADERS

The best of the best from the week that was.

R – 67 – The Losers Club (RCL 9)

HR –26 – The Losers Club (RCL 9) *new weekly record

RBIs – 68 – DFresh (NOTLZ)

SB – 17 – Dunphy’s Joint Venture (COUG R US), QuietJon (RCL 12), & TagEmAndBagEmRCL14 (RCL 14)

AVG – .347 – Chiadude21 (RCL 35)

K – 95 – Texas Flood (RCL 22)

W – 8 – 5 Teams Tied

SV –  10 – Natsguy1820 (RCL 28) & Grey (Perts League)

ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 1.75 – Josheast (NOTLZ) (in 56.2 IP)

WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.797 – mmdan112 (RCL 29) (in 42.2 IP)

Offense was definitely up this week!  Not only did we set a new HR weekly record but the best ERA was almost 2.00, where it usually sits around 1.00.  Vin’s numbers back that up:

Only 8 teams had an ERA under 2. (Last Week there were 29)

44 teams had an ERA over 6.  (Last Week there were 25)

5 teams hit under .200   (Last Week there were 25)

42 teams hit over .300.  (Last Week there were 33)

And, in case you were wondering about your pacing for the season: 55.7% of the schedule has been completed. 557 IP would be on pace for the 1000 IP minimum. 780 IP is on pace for the maximum 1400 IP.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: lelandaiken

League: RCL 30

Stats:   AVG: .301, R: 51, HR: 21, RBI: 56, SB: 5

IP: 74.2, ERA: 2.17, WHIP: 0.871, K: 76, W: 7, SV: 6

Summary: A runaway for TOW this week!  Lelandaiken gained 11.5 points, up to 102 to move within 4 of the leader in RCL 30.  Christian Walker powered the offense, hitting .407 with 5 home runs, 9 runs, and 11 RBI. Yordan Alvarez and Brent Rooker each added 3 homers.  Kutter Crawford (2 Wins/11 K/0.69/0.538) and Tarik Skubal (1 Win/20 K/2.77/0.615) led the pitching staff. Camilo Doval earned 3 saves while Kenley Jansen added 2.  Quite a cherry on top on Sunday as both Kutter and Tarik threw gems.  Amazing week, and good luck taking down RCL 30 in the second half!
