RCL Update: The Week That Was, Week 17, 2024

0

Just a quick hitter this week as we come out of the All-Star Break.  Hope everyone is feeling energized for a the final 40% of the season.  Because there is very little movement during a 3 day week, I’m going to take a look at the current stats that VinWins has collected and we’ll compare those to the overall records for the RCLs and see if anyone has a shot at RCL glory.  Let’s dive in!

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

No movement in the short week.  Son did come back to earth a little, losing 2.5 points and it’s quite a bunch at the top again with eight points separating Son (first) and me (fifth)

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

We finally have the overall standings set-up for the Championship and Wild Card tiers, now with real numbers.  Our current top ten and the five who are looking to break back into the Championship Tier for round 2 can be seen above.

TRADES

All the trades that have gone down in the past week.  Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

DATE LEAGUE DETAILS
7/15/2024 RCL 21

OBWon traded Jose Caballero to SkidMarks134 for Bo Bichette

7/16/2024 Original Recipe

Bcyph traded Clay Holmes & Gleyber Torres to Ping Bodie Gluttons for Cole Ragans & Byron Buxton

7/16/2024 RCL 21

Bend the Knee traded Clarke Schmidt & Kyle Finnegan to OBWon for George Kirby

7/19/2024 RCL 24

The Sneetches traded Steven Kwan to Bibee Broken Bieber Bumpers for Tanner Bibee

7/21/2024 COUGS R US

Again and again traded Hunter Brown & Hunter Harvey to Dunphy’s Joint Venture for Gleyber Torres & Josh Lowe

Five trades this week with Bo Bichette being traded for Jose Caballero in one.  Bichette has been dropped in four of my RCLs, so this isn’t much of a surprise.  I moved Kwan for Bibee in a league where I need innings and am second in batting average.  We’ll see how that works out for me.

JKJ hitting near .400 this week moved his average up 3 points in RCL 14, something that neither Vin nor I thought was possible in so few ABs and this late in the season, but here we are.

As for the season-to-date stats, VinWins collected those for us to look at:

ERA: 2024 Average: 3.69   Record: 2.56  (2023: 3.22)

I’m a bit surprised we aren’t closer to beating last year’s stolen base record.  I guess we’re only ten off the pace, but still.  I would have guessed we were ahead there based solely on the high weekly totals.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: The Tatis Tuckers

League: DFSers Anonymous

Stats:   AVG: .299, R: 26, HR: 9, RBI: 29, SB: 0

IP: 31.2, ERA: 1.14, WHIP: 0.789, K: 36, W: 3, SV: 6

Summary: A short week, but a good week for the Tuckers.  They went from 80.5 to 85.5 points and jumped from 5th to 2nd in DFSers Anonymous.  Their recent trade for Finnegan is already paying dividends as he added two saves this weekend.  Alec Burleson, Jarren Duran, and Marcell Ozuna powered the offense.  Meanwhile, Taj Bradley, Gerrit Cole, Shota Imanaga, and Jack Flaherty all had solid starts on the pitching side.   Paul Sewald also chipped in three saves.
