Shein to sponsor Parklife Festival 2024 and have on-site pop-up – TheIndustry.fashion

Chinese online fast fashion retailer Shein is sponsoring the Parklife Festival at Heaton Park in Manchester for the first time on 8 and 9 June 2024, with a pop-up space offering its new ‘Festival Edit’ for women and men.

The ‘G-Stage presented by Shein’ will have DJs, producers and artists including Arielle Free, Danny Howard, Majestic and Jimmy Turnball performing over the two days, and festival-goers can “experience the latest Shein collections in person between G-Stage performances”.

Shein’s Head of UK, Shihong Liu, said: “We are thrilled to partner with Parklife Festival this year and to launch our much anticipated Festival Edit.

“The collaboration with Parklife is a dynamic reflection of Shein’s commitment to self-expression and inclusivity, and we are excited to bring together our shared passion for music, fashion and creativity.”

The ‘Festival Edit’ features zebra print playsuits, space dye separates and acid-wash denim. The pop-up space will also offer free make-up touch-ups using the latest Sheglam beauty range, as well as hosting exclusive DJ sets.

In addition, Shein will be presenting the latest Darker Shadows collection from the brand’s Manchester-based label, Musera.

Additionally, there will be chances to win prizes, including clothing, accessories, makeup and even tickets to the Creamfields North Festival, which Shein also sponsors, taking place later this summer.

Shein will host a VIP launch party at Parklife on Saturday 8 June “to kickstart the festival season”, where guests will get a first look at the pop-up space and ‘Festival Edit’ before it opens to the general public.

Yesterday, TheIndustry.fashion reported that Shein is facing backlash from politicians and major UK fund managers over its planned London IPO.

It comes amid concerns over workers’ rights after a Channel 4 investigation in 2022 revealed that some Chinese workers were working 18-hour days and being paid as little as 3p per garment.

Last week it was reported that Shein offered a job to former chancellor Sajid Javid ahead of the IPO. City sources said that, if the appointment goes ahead, Javid could join Shein’s board or become an adviser to the company.
