DFS: Can’t Quit On The Colorado Rockies

0

We are back for another week of trying to piece a winning Wednesday lineup together. Today, we are trying our hand at another stack, this time with the Colorado Rockies. Before you look, no, they are not playing at home. However, they are playing the Angels and facing off against a guy named Davis Daniel. There will be a decent number of Rockies along with some others for tonight’s 5-game slate that starts at 7:10pm EST.

Logan Webb SP $8,600 – Logan Webb vs the A’s is a no-brainer here. Even with Webb struggling in his last 3 starts against the Blue Jays, Rockies, and the Dodgers, I’m still wildly confident that Logan has a 20-point start in him. While the A’s have some guys that can do damage in the lineup, it is not enough to make me shy away from Webb tonight. Start with confidence.

Framber Valdez, SP: $8,900 – Slim pickings for pitchers in this 5-game slate, but Framber Valdez is worth the price. The Pirates have won 2 straight against the Astros, and Framber hopes to save the Astros from a series sweep. His last 3 starts have produced 33.6, 16.6, and 34.7 points respectively. Now, he did face off against the Mariners and Marlins, but he can have similar success against the Pirates. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it just feels like the Pirates are overperforming too much. They need to come back down to earth eventually, right?..RIGHT? I’ll put my eggs in Framber’s basket as Houston needs to avoid the sweep and he’ll be the biggest reason why.

Michael Toglia, 1B: $3,900 –Flying close to the sun with this pick, but Toglia has 18 home runs this year and 2 in his last 3. He’s streaky, so we want to follow him until he cools off. The bright side is that he’s only scored 0 once in his last 15 games (multiple single-point games though). He’s worth a gamble in Anaheim against Davis Daniel who has been susceptible to the long-ball in his short stints in the majors.

Noelvi Marte, 3B: $3,200 –This is strictly a value pick so that we can try to spend elsewhere. Cincinnati is hitter friendly, and he’s facing Kyle Hendricks. His overall numbers have not been great, so I cannot spend much time touting him too much. He does, however, show some glimpses of production with a number of double-digit games. It’s just that he’s not consistent. He’s worth a shot.

Ezequiel Tovar, SS: $4,000 – Here’s another addition to our Rockies stack. Would you believe me if I told you that Tovar is actually better on the road than he is at home? Well, believe it because it’s true. He has 11 homers and 29 RBI with a .844 OPS as opposed to 6 homers and 21 RBI with a .751 OPS at home. (Update* he has 12 HR on the road, baseball reference hasn’t updated last night’s stats yet for some reason). This kid is young, talented, and most of all streaky. He has big games in bunches and had a home run last night. He stays hot tonight as the Rockies get to Daniel early.

Brenton Doyle, OF: $5,100 – To wrap up our Rockies stack, we’re finishing with Doyle. He’s a little banged up with a finger injury, but he pinch-hit last night, so I’d expect to see him in the lineup tonight. Now, he’s very much the opposite of Tovar in that he is a Coors Field merchant. I’m not going to let that take away from me putting him in this Rockies stack. We are all-in against Davis Daniel.

Spencer Steer, OF: $5,000 – This is another selection to fade Kyle Hendricks. In doing so, we get one of the Reds best power threats in Steer. He can go nuclear at any time, so why not now? Proceed with caution, as he’s no stranger to a dud. He’s only faced Hendricks once in his career, but with Hendricks’s lack of velocity at this point in his career, I believe Steer will be all over him.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

If you believe in the Rockies stack, you can insert Brendan Rodgers into 2B and maybe even put Charlie Blackmon into the OF spot. It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on the lineups, especially when we have a guy like Marte in there.

No inclement weather predicted in any of the games tonight. The only major call-out is that there are roughly 10mph winds blowing out to center field in the Giants/A’s game. Do with that information what you will.

Doing Lines In Vegas

The two largest totals for the evening are the Reds/Cubs at 9.5 and Rockies/Angels at 8.5. This gives some added confidence in the lineup selections. Both of the pitchers we picked have the largest odds against their opponents at -218 on DraftKings.
