What’s poppin, Razzpimples?!

Remember to bookmark that Razzball Bullpen Chart, y’all! I update it obsessively.

Also, if you’re a sub (you should be a sub…it’s great value), you get access to RP Projections and the super badass Relievonator Game Log tool, in addition to all the other awesome tools we have to offer. Hittertron and Streamonator, etc.

Let’s do it to it.

Note: All stats and Player Rater values are accurate through Sunday’s games.

Player Rater Top 20 (5×5 Standard)

Player Rater Top 20 (6×6 w/ Holds)

2024 SVHD Leaders

Weekly Saves Leaders

Weekly Holds Leaders

Weekly Blown Saves Leaders :'(

Arizona Diamondbacks:

  • Paul Sewald with another 2 SV week. Just doin his thang, pards. Lookin good. Ryan Thompson was not very good but got 2 HLD anyway. Also took an L. Kevin Ginkel looked a lot better (no runs, 5 K, good metrics) while earning 1 W and 1 HLD.

Atlanta Braves:

  • No SVHD all week for ATL. Sad. A.J. Minter is back off the IL, though, so get him in yer lineups! You can probably ditch Joe Jimenez/Pierce Johnson if you’re rostering them. Maybe Jimenez can stick around given the right situation. Raisel Iglesias pitched great: 0 ER, 4 K, 22.2 SwStr%, and 38.9 CSW% in 2 IP.

Baltimore Orioles:

  • Craig Kimbrel 3 SV. No runs and 5 K but also walked 3. Reckon the metrics were a little too Eiffel 65 (real ones know what I mean) for my taste, but that happens from time to time. Can’t go out and have red metrics all the ding dang time! Cionel Perez actually led the team with 3 HLD this week. Yennier Cano/Jacob Webb each had 2 HLD. None of these guys pitched exceedingly well.

Boston Red Sox:

  • Kenley Jansen followed up his headlining week with 1 W, 1 SV, and 2 K across two scoreless. Not bad, old man. Chris Martin had the only hold, and it was the only inning he pitched all week. He’s the holds source you want, but Justin Slaten is also probably gonna get a decent share ROS.

Chicago Cubs:

  • Boy howdy what a mess we’ve got here. Hector Neris had 1 W and 1 SV, though. Might be he’s back in the mix. Had a 4:1 K:BB and didn’t allow a run. Porter Hodge is the new kinda sexy thing they’ve got goin on: 1 SV, 1 HLD, 3:0 K:BB in 3.2 scoreless. Early numbers are looking pretty good. If I had to pick a SVHD guy from this pen, I’d right out Hodge while he’s on this little bender. In SV-only, Neris is probably worth grabbing again. Mark Leiter Jr. is throwing again. Still a little ways away

Chicago White Sox:

  • Michael Kopech 2 SV. Had the goods this week: 16.3 SwStr%, 38.8 CSW%. If only he could do this all the time. John Brebbia has actually been a freakin boss lately. Added 2 HLD this week, striking out 5 over four scoreless. Lots of Ks and not a lot of the other stats (the ones you don’t want a lot of) over the last month: 13.2 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 20 K, and 6 SVHD.

Cincinnati Reds:

  • Not a single decision of any sort from a Reds RP this week. You should still only care about Alexis Diaz and Fernando Cruz. Diaz pitched a little better; Cruz still had 4 K and 36.4 CSW%. I’m always happy if it’s 30+%.

Cleveland Guardians:

  • Emmanuel Clase 1 SV. Didn’t get used much. Scott Barlow 1 SV, 1 HLD, 6 K over 2.2 scoreless. This pard was feelin it this week: 66.7 K%, 27.3 SwStr%, and 36.4 CSW%. All of which are cabernet red on my spreadsheet. Just when Cade Smith was starting to pull ahead, he kinda stinks it up while Barlow has a week like that. Hunter Gaddis had 1 HLD and 4 K over three hitless/scoreless.

Colorado Rockies:

  • Second week a row we don’t get a Rockies SV. Only positive decision was Jalen Beeks getting bailed out for a win despite pitching terribly. Cooked his owners’ ratios. Nick Mears looked the best results/metrics-wise, but mehhhh. This pen is poo poo.

Detroit Tigers:

  • Tyler Holton 1 SV, 1 HLD. Wasn’t really very good, though. Jason Foley earned a loss, as did Shelby Miller. The only other SVHD was a hold by Beau Brieske. Blah. I’d reluctantly hold onto Foley for now. This pen is also poo poo.

Houston Astros:

  • Josh Hader 1 SV, 5 K. Should get you elite returns ROS, just took the guy a lil while. He’s earned some slack, I reckon. Ryan Pressly 2 HLD. They were boring but he’s been really good overall lately. He’s like the Kenley Jansen of setup men. Bryan Abreu wasn’t at his best. Only decision was a BS. He’s earned some slack, too, whether you want to give it to him or not. Trust the process, pards!

Kansas City Royals:

  • James McArthur 2 SV. Best news is he finally gave you a good WHIP week (0.25). Guy has been really good value so far all things considered, it’s just his ROS value I’m worried about. Figure the Royals will want to add some pen depth, cuz they’re bout as deep as a skillet full of bacon grease right now. Could be whoever comes in bumps McArthur right on outta the ninth. Might try to sell if you can find a buyer. John Schreiber 2 HLD, 3 K, no hits/runs/walks. Purty nice, purty nice.

Los Angeles Angels:

  • Carlos Estevez 2 SV. Still a shiny 0.00 ERA for the last like month a half or more. Ben Joyce 1 W and 1 HLD, 3 K in 3.2 scoreless. Allowed 1 H and 2 BB. I don’t trust him yet, but there may be some sneaky SVHD value down the home stretch. Maybe.

Los Angeles Dodgers:

  • Evan Phillips 1 SV, 1 HLD. Blue metrics but good enough results. Alex Vesia 1 SV in two scoreless. Daniel Hudson 2 W, 1 HLD, 4 K, but he also had 2 BS. Metrics looked good. Then Blake Treinen had 1 HLD, 1 L. Metrics no quite so good. Crazy how he’s fallen to fourth on this hierarchy. I dropped my one share for what it’s worth.

Miami Marlins:

  • Tanner Scott is the headline dandy this week. Head on over to UrbanDictionary if you ain’t familiar with what a “thot” is. While the connotation may be negative, I’m using it in a good way. Had 3 SV and 3 K this week over three scoreless. Nice 33.3 CSW%. Three is a magic number, they say. He’s either #5 or #6 on our Player Raters despite having an abysmal start to the season. Folks were worried during Spring Training when he couldn’t throw a single strike hardly. And then that carried into the regular season. Well, pards, whatever plagued him has done gone and went. Man’s got 2 W, 5 SV, 1.38 ERA (3.00 FIP, to be fair), 0.85 WHIP, 15 K, 17.3 SwStr%, and 33.5 CSW% over his last month (13 IP). As for the rest of this pen, I’ve been saying I don’t give a ding dang darn, but then we get a 1 W, 3 HLD, 5 K week from A.J. Puk. Then Andrew Nardi and Calvin Faucher got a 2 HLD apiece (and a W for Nardi). I’m inclined to think Nardi is still the holds guy you want if you want a Marlins holds guy.

Milwaukee Brewers:

  • Trevor Megill another 2 SV week. And again he looked great. Basically just a ditto of last week’s blurb on him. Trifecta alert: Elvis Peguero had 1 W, 1 SV, 1 HLD. K’d 4 with great metrics. Bryan Hudson no decisions but pristine ratios/metrics and 3:0 K:BB. Jared Koenig 1 W, 2 HLD, 7 K over 3.1 scoreless.*Looney Tunes eyes pop out moment* until you see the 4 BB as well. Hudson is still the guy I want.

Minnesota Twins:

  • Jhoan Duran 1 SV, 2 K. Not great metrics, pards, but I will always believe in elite talent, which this guy has in spades. Griffin Jax rare dud week. Only decision was 1 BS. Still got you 4 K and 0.00 ERA, and the metrics show that he was actually a badass. So IRL it wasn’t a dud week.

New York Mets:

  • While Edwin Diaz has been serving a suspension, the Mets pen has been pretty damn worthless. Dedniel Nunez had the most valuable week with 2 W, 0.00 ERA, and 3 K. Adrian “Not Gonna Ever Bold His Name” Houser had the only SV, while Diekman and Adcock each had 1 HLD. Reed Garrett saddle with 1 BS and 1 L but at least had very strong metrics despite garbage ratios. So, in short…oof. They need Edwin back in a hurry.

New York Yankees:

  • Only SVHD was a Luke Weaver HLD. Clay Holmes didn’t register a decision, striking out 2 in 1 IP. You see a 9.00 ERA and 2.00 WHIP, but if you’re a-lookin at my spreadsheet you also see 40 K%, 0 BB%, 22.2 SwStr%, and 44.4 CSW%. He’s fallen down the Player Raters, but all it’ll take is like a 2 SV week or something to climb back up.

Oakland A’s:

  • Mason Miller no decisions but 4 K and a -0.84 FIP for the week. Ridonk metrics. He’s in good shape. He’s the only Athletic RP worth rostering.

Philadelphia Phillies:

  • Jeff Hoffman had the only SV, Gregory Soto the only HLD. Soto was frankly awesome, but he ain’t nearly consistent enough to warrant real fantasy attention. Jose Alvarado only saw one inning and was decent enough. Matt Strahm and Orion Kerkering saw a little more action but didn’t dazzle and didn’t collect any positive decisions (Strahm earned a BS).

Pittsburgh Pirates:

  • Aroldis Chapman 1 SV, 4 K as interim closer. Look strong overall. Should be rostered in all formats. Colin Holderman is the interim holds source to roster but didn’t get one this week (Nicolas and Mlodzinski did, but who gives a hoot about those two?). David Bednar has no real timeline at the moment.

San Diego Padres:

  • Robert Suarez 1 SV, 0.00 ERA, 1.oo WHIP. Good enough. Jeremiah Estrada no decisions but also no runs/walks and only 1 H allowed in 3 IP (1 K).

Seattle Mariners:

  • Ryne Stanek 1 W, 1 HLD, 1 L, 3 K. Pretty mid performance this week, all things considered. Andres Munoz only had a BS to show for his efforts, which were underwhelming indeed. Ah well, reckon it was just on off week.

San Francisco Giants:

  • Camilo Doval 1 W, 1 SV, 1 BS. Struck out 6 to just 1 BB in 4 IP. Metrics popped. Velo popped. I ain’t worried. Tyler Rogers 1 W, 2 HLD. Ryan Walker 1 HLD. Super sexy 7:1 K:BB over four scoreless.

St. Louis Cardinals:

  • Ryan Helsley led all RP with 4 SV this week, striking out 6. Good metrics but a mid 1.50 WHIP. He’s still my #1 cowboy, pards. Love him with all my Southern heart. JoJo Romero and Andrew Kittredge each had 3 HLD. Tad worried that Romero had another poopy metrics week and also 0 K. Let’s see how next week goes. Ryan Fernandez had 2 HLD, striking out 5 with excellent whiffs over four scoreless.

Tampa Bay Rays:

  • Pete Fairbanks 2 SV, 2 K. Poor whiffs but good CSW%. Jason Adam 1 HLD, 5 K in three scoreless. That’s the Jason Adam I know and love. Colin Poche 1 HLD, 3 K. He’s fine in the deeper formats.

Texas Rangers:

  • No SVHD in Tejas this week, pards. Kirby Yates and David Robertson kept runs off the board and each had 2 K.

Toronto Blue Jays:

  • Welp, another squad with 0 SVHD this past week. Chad Green was pretty good in 2 IP. Nate Pearson was like stepping barefoot in a warm cow patty: 20.25 ERA and 3.00 WHIP. Jordan Romano is shut down again, so I imagine he’s damn near officially cooked — second time he’s been shut down since trying to ramp back up. Yimi Garcia, who’s been dealing with a nerve issue, threw a bullpen session and has another on tap tomorrow. They’ll go from there if he feels good after.

Washington Nationals:

  • And yet another SVHD-less team. Hunter Harvey had the two counting stats you don’t like to see: 1 BS and 1 L. Busted up your ratios, I’m afraid. Kyle Finnegan pitched one scoreless, striking out 2 and posting mighty fine metrics (27.8 SwStr%, 55.6 CSW%).
